Motivation

When I was young, my father made it his job to try and convince my brother and me that absurd things were true. Once we no longer trusted him, he'd come home with a ridiculous example of something that was true. He would bring home doctored photographs to prove that pigs and elephants flew. Then he told us about flying squirrels and we didn't believe him.

As we got older, the stories became more complex. He told me that a barium enema was an enema with barium because barium was explosive and doctors could use small explosions to clear out your colon (not true and I believed him). He also told me about scrappies, the sheep version of mad cow, in which sheep go up to fence posts and scrape off all of their fur (true, I didn't believe him).

Now that I'm an adult, he just says ridiculous things to me... and my brother has learned to follow suit. I was inspired by "Shit My Dad Says" to share some of these here!
